A Real-Time Camera-Based Color Vision Deficiency Assistance System Using Daltonization

Abstract
Color blindness, also referred to as the color vision deficiency (CVD) is a condition, which afflicts a good number of the world population and which impairs the capacity of differentiating particular colors correctly. This impairment presents a challenge in everyday life like reading signals, object identification and perceiving visual data. The paper describes a real time camera based color blindness correction system that increases the color perception of Protanopics, Deuteranopics, and Tritanopic persons. The suggested system uses a superior algorithm of Daltonization that translates RGB pictures into the LMS color space to simulate the impairment of color vision, computational perceptual loss of color, and reassigns the lost data to visible channels. The fixed frames are shown in real time at more than 30 frames per second, such that there is low latency and easy user experience. The experimental data confirms that the system has a significant effect on the color distinguishability and can preserve computational efficiency to be used in a real time application.
